Stuck in a Hair Rut

Not quite brave enough for this, but love it!

Tomorrow I am heading to the hairdressers for a long over due cut and blow dry.  Even more excitingly is my hairdresser is back from maternity leave.  She knows my hair and knows how I like it cut.  But I am feeling a bit stuck in a hair rut.  I seem to have had the same style for several years, infact I don't want to think exactly how long.  When I was younger I was braver, changing style and colour quite reguarly.  Then I got stuck, opting for an easy style, long enough to tie up if I wanted to or more usually because I was rushing to get the children to nursery or school.  But as I prepare to start a new chapter in my life and also recently turning forty, I feel I need a change.  I am very tempted to try a long bob, still just about long enough to tie back if I am having a bad hair day.  So what's stopping me?  It's festival and camping season, which means no readily available electric supply to plug my straightners into.  My hair has a tendency to frizz  and can be quite pouffy if left to its own devices.

So do I risk it and go a bit shorter or should I wait until autumn for a new style?

Until next time, take care.

Almost 40 - Skincare

I am sure I am not alone when I say that my skin has changed quite a lot through my thirties.  Little lines appeared, some got a little deeper, age spots have appeared and the sun seems to make little freckles appear on my hands.  After years of experimenting with various brands in my twenties, some cheap, some more expensive, I now seem to be more settled in my skincare choices.  The closer I get to another milestone birthday the more confident I feel in my choices to take care of my, dare I say it, ageing skin.  A little bit of polyfiller from No.7's amazing serum has helped no end in the last year.  It is now a permanent choice and always found on my bathroom shelf.  Alongside it sits No.7 day and night creams which assist this miracle serum in it's work.  As for eye cream I am yet to settle on a particular brand, currently trying a clinique sample my sister sent me.  Hopefully soon I will find one I truly like and can accompany me throughout my forties.

Until next time, take care.

Summer Festival Hairstyles

With less than fifty days until we head down to Dorset for a fun filled weekend at Camp Bestival, the girls and I are starting to think about festival hairstyles.  We have all been busily pinning ideas and inspiration on Pinterest, with time to practice the more complicated ones.  So I thought as the weather has been beautifully balmy the past few days I would share some of our favourites, to help inspire some summer hair styling for you all.

Festivals and My Frizzy Hair

Yes it's true, I have frizzy hair.  The invention of straightners has of course aided my daily plight in taming my locks and as long as the air isn't too humid I can pass off having straight locks.  Adding to my frizz issue is the natural wave that I try to tame, perhaps because I am really not sure how to make my waves stylish and not just a mess.  Obviously with our forthcoming trip to Camp Bestival and the thought of no straightners for a whole four days scares me.  I managed last time, tying my hair into a  fun side plait, perfect for festival styling.  But my hair is a little shorter now and I may not manage this fail safe option this time.  So dear readers I need your help, as the vast amount of products for wavy hair is quite honestly confusing! Is there something I pop on my wet or dry hair to make my waves work?  Answers on a postcard please....or in the comments below or tweet me. Thank you, I am relying on you guys to help me!

Until next time, take care.
